Recording of Meetings

Under the Openness of Local Government Bodies Regulations 2014, members of the public may now film, photograph and make audio recordings of the proceedings of the formal Council meeting, though not, under current legislation, of the Public Participation session, as this is not part of the formal agenda of the meeting. Recording activity should be respectful to the conduct of the meeting and behaviour that disrupts the meeting (such as oral commentary) will not be permitted.

 

 

Members are asked to stand for a minutes’ silence in memory of Queen Elizabeth II

 

 

It is hoped that representatives of West Mercia Police are able to join the meeting.

  1. Apologies for absence

Members are asked to receive apologies of absence for this meeting.

 

 

 

  1. Declarations of Interest

Members are asked to receive declarations of interest under consideration on this agenda in accordance with Part III of the Local Government Act 2000 and The Relevant Authorities (Disclosable Pecuniary Interests) Regulations 2012.

Members are reminded that should you declare a prejudicial interest at a meeting, it is your responsibility to inform the Monitoring Officer.

 

  1. Public Question Time and Participation

Members of the public are advised that they are welcome to ask questions about items on the agenda. It is not always possible to give a verbal response at the meeting and questions may receive a written reply. No resolution can be made under this item.

Questions should relate to matters of Parish Council policy or practice and not relate to the individual affairs of either the questioner or any other named person.

 

  1. Chairman’s Announcements

The Chairman will give any announcements in relation to parish matters or the     agenda.

 

  1. Co-option of a Parish Councillor

Although as at the time of writing the agenda there are no known applications to be co-opted to the Parish Council Members are asked to consider the opportunity to co-opt and consider anyone who they feel may be interested. If there are candidates on the evening of the meeting the formal process can be instigated.

Each applicant will be asked to speak about themselves, why they would like to become a Parish Councillor, what they feel they could bring to the Parish Council and what they would like to do while on the Parish Council. The voting then takes place. Should there be more than one applicant then the proportional voting method will be used.

Members are asked to confirm the minutes of the Annual Meeting of Sutton Maddock Parish Council held on Thursday 14th July 2022.

  1. Report from Shropshire Councillor

 

Councillor Richard Marshall will update the Council on matters pertaining to Shropshire Council and those relevant to Sutton Maddock Parish Council.

 

Cllr. Marshall will be speaking about the delay in the repairs to the A442.

Members are asked to consider the opportunity for training in GDPR and the treatment of documents as each Councillor uses their own IT equipment to carry out the work for the Parish Council.

The Parish Clerk will give an update on the website. More information will be given to Members about the need for photographs.

Members are asked to consider opting out of the SAAA central external auditor appointment arrangements.

Members are asked to consider or note the following:

 

  • Envirogrant – £15,000 of funding now available to community groups across the county.

 

 

  1. NALC Civility and Respect Project

 

Members are asked to consider the information circulated about the NALC Civility and Respect project and agree to sign up to the Pledge.

 

Members are asked to note that the Parish Clerk has been part of the working group.

 

 

  1. Any new matters relating to the parish not included elsewhere on the

      agenda

 

Members are invited to raise any matter under this item but noting that no decisions can be made although instructions can be given to the Clerk.

 

It is also the opportunity to ask for items for a future agenda but noting that if the items require research, then unless a simple answer can be obtained by the Parish Clerk by an e mail or telephone call then the Councillor will be asked to do the research and report it to the Parish Clerk for the future agenda item.

 

  1. Shropshire Council Tree Scheme Notification – Town and Parish Councils
